MATH & SCIENCE UPDATE 11/3/11

Picture
Parents,

Third Graders have started learning Multiplication and Division and will be testing on it in the next two weeks. Please be going over their homework with them and practicing some skills at home. This is a very new subject to most students and we want to ensure they succeed. :) All students have been given a multiplication table that should be in their bee binder. We will be working on Fractions when we complete this unit so start taking note of things at home that you  can practice fractions with (pizza box, pie, etc. ) !

In Science we are beginning Landforms and Earth changes, rocks and minerals etc. Make your child aware of all these things around them at their home and in their community. This will help link their learning to what they observe outside the classroom.

Thank you!
Mrs. Zaiser

Parents,

The first week went great and I am lucky to have the most amazing two classes of students! This second week we are getting into more Math/Science/Social Studies based assignments and learning. Please note a Math Packet went home with all students on Monday the 29th of August and is due on Friday the 2nd. This is how Math homework will be done every week so please pace your children as recommended on the front sheet. Also, Monday the BEE Binders went home with my 3A class. Make sure your students know to bring this to and from school everyday!! This is very IMPORTANT! Also check for important papers to sign and return and to keep at home! A Science homework assignment will be sent home with students on Friday the 2nd and is due that following Tuesday when we come back to school. Please ask your child about this and make sure they are participating!

***Picture Day is Monday September 12th! If you would like to purchase pictures I need all forms turned in beforehand.
***Scholastic Orders bring in as soon as possible. If we order sooner than end of September we get extra books for our classroom :)

Hello and Welcome to Mrs. Zaiser's page!!

Picture
I am so excited to have your children in my class this upcoming school year! We have a busy but exciting year ahead. The third grade team is hoping this site will be a good way to keep parents updated on what is going on in the classroom as well as a good place to go for reminders on upcoming events and things going on around the school. I will try my best to keep my page up to date with what is going on in my classroom! Make sure to take note of the different links at the top that will take you to pages dealing with Student Expectations, Supplies, Newsletters, Helpful Links, Tips, and Comments. You can also view the other 3rd grade teachers pages from the Welcome page.

I also would like to introduce myself to you all. My name is Kaitlin Zaiser and I am teaching third grade Math, Science, and Social studies to your children for the upcoming 2011-2012 school year (Mrs. Ulhaque will be your child's English Language Arts teacher). I attended Texas A&M University in College Station. My certification is in Early Education through 6th grade, but I am extremely thrilled to be teaching 3rd grade. Third grade is such a wonderful age group to work with. The children begin to take on more responsibilities and really start to become special individuals. I am excited to watch your child grow throughout the next nine months.
